What's even more incredible is that newborn elephants can stand up soon after being born! On average, they weigh up to 260 pounds and have a lifespan of 50 to 70 years in the wild. In fact, the oldest known elephant lived for 82 years! The heaviest elephant on record weighed a staggering 26,000 pounds.
